GLIDER TUPELO TI
Not of this world – crafted by the best in the world Titanium is truly incredible stuff. It boasts sci-fi properties that don’t hail from this planet. By volume it is 1/3rd the lighter than steel, it can’t rust, doesn’t fatigue and is difficult to dent or scratch. Titanium is by far the strongest and therefore safest material to make a race frame from. And Serotta titanium is the most carefully crafted and technically advanced metal on the planet – so we were happy to wait until they could fabricate the Tupelo Ti for us in their Saratoga Springs factory.

Serotta control all the tube processes themselves. Each Tupelo Ti tube is swaged, butted and shaped in house at Serotta using 3AL.2.5V grade aerospace grade titanium; the alloys of aluminium and vanadium increasing the workability and hardness of the final structure. The Tupelo Ti drop-outs are CNC’d from whole billets of 6AL.4V titanium – they may look like works of art but they are also the strongest drop-outs in the world. For an elegantly minimalist effect the welded frame is hand-polished at the factory to a full satin finish. The geometry is unchanged from the steel Tupelo – we use a 2º slope on the top tube to give the rider the option of riding with the handlebars a little higher, whilst still maintaining the appearance to of a horizontal traditional toptube. And that is it. A classic Glider Tupelo. Only made from titanium. Measured frame-only weight – 3.2lbs (56)
